Rob Johansen

Robert Johansen: Managing Director

Rob has bachelor degrees in Commerce, Law and Engineering from the University of Queensland with first class honours and a University Medal.

After graduation, Rob spent five years in operational and line management roles on mine sites in Australia and South Africa.  He then joined Barlow Jonker (now part of Wood Mackenzie) consulting on corporate, strategic and transactional matters in the mining space, working in a dozen countries. 

In conjunction with Barlow Jonker, Rob founded a transaction management business which managed resource industry transactions specialising in early stage and distressed assets, completing transactions involving BHP, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Yanzhou, Mitsui, Cockatoo Coal, Gympie Gold, Cargill, Thiess, Solid Energy NZ, RungePincockMinarco, Custom Mining and a number of private clients.

Rob has spent six years as an ASX company director and ten years on the boards of numerous private companies, serving on audit, risk management, nomination and remuneration and due diligence committees.

Rob manages Adamelia's direct investment and resources portfolio and recently completed the acquisition of the Springsure, Arcturus and Arcadia projects.

 

Chris Hanson

Chris Hanson: Director - Technical

Chris is a technical and operational practitioner and project manager with career background in project management, mining technical services, geotechnical, geology, mine planning, feasibility studies, due diligence and health, safety and risk management.

 Chris’s qualifications include:

  • Project Management (Diploma from the AIM)
  • Geotechnical Engineering (Masters Degree, RPEQ Mining and AusIMM CP(Geotech))
  • Geology (BSc Hons Degree and AusIMM CP(Geology))
  • Site Senior Executive (SSE) under Queensland coal mine legislation

He has considerable experience in scoping and executing exploration and in Resource Estimation, having coordinated JORC Resource Estimates for large scale international projects including the Carmichael Coal Project (Adani) and the Moatize Coal Project (Vale).  Chris also has a strong reputation and considerable operational and technical experience in the areas of underground and open cut geotechnical engineering, having worked as Technical Services Manager at a number of Anglo Coal operations.

Chris manages Adamelia's technical consulting team.

 

Andrew Huston: Director

Andrew is a Project, Construction and Engineering manager having directly managed over $900m worth of project work with a majority of these being brown-field projects. This experience extends across the mining industry (coal, copper, gold and uranium), power generation (hydro & thermal) as well as LNG experience as a study manager.   

This unique experience and enjoyment of project work has fostered the development of an in-depth understanding of what is required to deliver a successful project,  from the study phase through to commissioning and handover.  Andrew's most recent assignment was as construction manager at a brownfield project at a copper mine in Laos.  A new Scrubbing Facility was installed on schedule, well under budget, a quality installation and with Zero Harm. One reason for the success was the ability to be involved from the feasibility study stage to be able to set up the project correctly to transition into construction and commissioning.

This experience is supported with seven years in maintenance as a workshop supervisor, mechanical engineer and outage manager within the power and mining industries, providing a strong understanding of the operational outcomes a project is required to deliver.

Dave Thomas - Principal Consultant

Dave has 33 years of experience in the mining industry in both the coal and minerals sectors. Over the last 30 years he has consulted to the coal industry in both the USA and Australia, completing numerous feasibility studies, due diligence and operations reviews and independent expert assignments of both bord and pillar and longwall mining operations for either coal companies or the finance sector. Prior to entering consulting, Dave held positions as either Mining Engineer, Chief Engineer, Production Superintendent or Operations Manager at underground potash, borate and gold mines in the USA.

Dave is a Competent Person (CP) for Reserve Estimation under the JORC Code, having conducted a number of JORC Reserve Statements including for the Kevin’s Corner Coal Project and Grosvenor. Dave also has significant experience in management of resource projects from initial exploration through to feasibility and permitting.  Most recently, Dave was the Independent Technical Expert for Bounty Mining's IPO and re-listing on the ASX.

 

Patrick Humphries - Principal Consultant

Patrick has over 20 years’ experience in underground coal mining operations, feasibility management and mining research.  Patrick has led major project feasibility studies for Adani Mining Australia, BHP Mitsubishi Alliance, Vale and Mount Isa Mines to identify, develop and deliver high capacity underground coal mines in a timely manner.

Patrick has a solid background in underground coal production including roles as Longwall Superintendent, Technical Services Superintendent and Ventilation Officer at a number of Queensland mines. This work has included longwall recovery, equipment overhauls, longwall moves and major gas drainage programs including both conventional and surface to inseam techniques.

Patrick has extensive expertise in the development, implementation and management of Principle Hazard Management Plans for Ventilation, Gas, Mine fires and Spontaneous combustion.  He has been a leader in the development and application of innovative inertisation techniques for the prevention of spontaneous combustion in underground coal mines resulting in increased safety and productivity in Queensland coal mines.

 

Hernan Retamal - Principal Consultant

Hernan has over 30 years’ experience in open cut mining operations, project management, contract mining, contract management and mine consulting across gold, coal, base metals and minerals mining. He has strong capability in the areas of construction and feasibility study management, open pit mine design, running safe and efficient operations and mine costing primarily in Australia, South East Asia and South America

Hernan has conducted numerous operational mining audits with focused on maximising equipment productivity, selectivity and maintaining safe and efficient operations.  He also has extensive experience providing specialist drilling and blasting advice to clients in quarry and open pit mines in Australia and overseas gained during his engagement with ICI Explosives.

Hernan has extensive consulting experience managing feasibility studies, due diligence and pit optimization studies.

 

Chris Schlebusch – Principal Consultant (Spatial)

Chris Schlebusch is a Principal Consultant with Adamelia Global and has a background in electronic engineering, industrial design and more than 10 years in the spatial industry as both a Geographic Informaton Systems (GIS) consultant and the GIS lead for Adani Australia's large multi-disciplinary mining, infrastructure and logistics project. He has worked on mining, resources and infrastructure projects in Australia, Africa, Asia, South America and Canada where he supported decision making with GIS and cartographic products in addition to providing hardware, software and process solutions.


He has deployed and managed geoscientific information management solutions, enterprise GIS infrastructure and web GIS tools using platforms such as Micromine's GeoBank, Esri's ArcGIS suite and Latitude Geographics' Geocortex. His cartographic products have underpinned Environmental Impact Statements, Mining Lease Applications and Prospectus publications.  

Vanessa Johansen - Property Portfolio Manager

Vanessa manages the Group's real estate, with responsibility for identifying and transacting on real estate opportunities and managing maintenance, improvement and tenant issues for the group's property portfolio.

Vanessa has recently returned to the workplace after starting a family.  Prior to working with the group, Vanessa was a registered physiotherapist and injury advisor to the insurance industry.
